Love, love the post. I am also not an early riser and a lying-in is always a temptation from me. I had to drink two cups of coffee just to keep me awake and from the presence of my sheets.

Mookins is on to something there. I use logic a lot to diffuse my rage. If I can work out a logical scenario then I can accept it. Maybe the pilot's didn't feel quite awake either. Remember how you felt? Maybe they were drinking cups of coffee & trying to wake up so they could get everyone there safely. LOL. Maybe the controller got a hold of some bad sushi last night & had to take a bathroom break that lasted a little longer than everyone had planned. Maybe moonkins was right & the wind was all crazy up there. Next time you start to get angry try & think of a real person reason. Like a normal person reason. One that has made you be late. Flat tires, stomach problems, getting sick, being exhausted, being depressed & think about it all the people that are controlling the situation were in that place. Compassion starts to overtake the anger.

A friend of a friend of mine's an airline pilot, and he says wind makes a huge difference- like they have to turn the engines way up and burn serious fuel, and if the wind's strong enough even that won't help, they'll be late anyway, so they just accept it and throttle back. So maybe the wind threw off all the schedules- at least, that's how I would try to excuse the situation, as a rage-reduction technique!
