All kinds of Christians are getting mad about my Sarah Palin comments, and it is pissing me off.
First of all – you fucking fake Christians - don’t fucking question my Christianity. I grew up in the church. My grandfather was a minister, who is with God now and talks to me in my dreams from God’s corner office. I am a former Sunday school teacher. I taught the Bible to children and showed them how to love God and invite him into their hearts. I believe in God – but I don’t fear him. God is my best friend. God is my ally. God is my boyfriend. God is my best fag. I am God’s fag hag cuz didn’t you know, God is a big fag. Serious bottom too. Butch in the streets, femme in the sheets. That is my God. God is my biggest fan. God gets me, dude.
God wants us all to just get along. He doesn’t give a shit about the profanity. The bitch fucking invented profanity. He thinks it is hilarious. He just wants you to talk to him, and he doesn’t care what you have to say. He just wants to keep the conversation going. Like Jay-Z, he just wants to love you. He just wants you to be able to make your own decisions. God is all about you and what you need. God is happy that you are gay. God made you fucking gay cuz he thinks it is awesome. God understands if you need to have an abortion. That is why he created abortion, on the 8th day. God accepts. God forgives. God loves all of us, even though some of us might have a problem with each other.
Don’t fucking question my Christianity you fucking idiot assholes. If you continue to have a problem, then talk to God about it, not me, you fucking racist homophobic misogynist fake Christian shitheads. God thinks it is funny that I swear so much. Many Kudos! I haven’t called (nor considered) myself a Christian for at least 8 years. (We can thank our “illustrious president” for that). I personally don’t even know what I call myself any more. (Usually, I say “Heathen” or “Pastafarian.”)
Ms. Cho, If all Christians were like you, things would be very different! I think we’d even get along… with EVERYBODY, for the first time ever!
I am “militantly” pro-choice on everything. My body, my business. Period. (I try to be good to my body… I’m literally HUGE but I am exercising now. It makes me feel better!)
I have the famous bumpersticker on my car: “Against Abortion? Then don’t have one.”
I get SO annoyed when someone says “If you don’t want to have children, don’t have sex.” Excuse me! I’m 40 and I’m NOT a nun. I’ve been shacking up with my wonderful boyfriend for 10+ years and I’m happy to say that all the birth control techniques I’ve used have been 100% successful. I realize that both good technique and a little luck are WHY I’ve been able to ENJOY sex without ending up pregnant and remaining disease free! (Yes, I am a strong advocate for condom use!!!)
The people who are for McCain/Palin who say “Just use birth control” don’t know much about their candidates. Everybody has seen McCain stutter and stammer when asked about insurance paying for Viagra AND oral contraceptives. Seems he feels it’s ok for men to have successful erections HOWEVER it’s NOT ok for women to prevent getting pregnant. Major double standard!
And, for Palin to say that it was her daughter’s CHOICE to keep the kid, while knowing full well, if she has her way, NOBODY will have any “choice” OTHER than to keep unwanted pregnancies.
Ok, I’ll stop because I feel my blood pressure starting to rise (and I could go on and on…..)
p.s. I still prefer “fruitfly” to “faghag.”

I don’t consider myself a militant atheist, but sometimes I feel like I have to chime in.
The statement “God created Abortion on the 8th day” has equal validity as “he created Murder on the 9th”. It’s bending the belief system in order to suit your practical concerns.
Having a well-developed sense of moral/ethical behavior is much more important than the requirement that it be self-consistent… But there are other ways to do so than turning to God. A secular philosophy of humanism, which claims that we should value the life of Man rather than the “words of God,” is much easier to sleep with at night. It doesn’t have the cognitive dissonance of coming from a religious viewpoint, with the need to ignore most of the thousands of contradictory rules therein just to live your life.
An example:
I respect Muslims who are in ignorance or denial or simply refuse to follow the more extreme requirements of the Koran (and therefore, aren’t required to kill nonbelievers in a global rampage). I feel, however, that there is something wrong with *respecting* ignorance, denial, or hypocrisy.
People who are truly certain that life begins at conception, and abortion is murder, are bound by their beliefs to stop it. Those who refuse to exercise the necessary force to end systematic murder are the Worst Samaritans in the world - utter cowards who would have responded to the Holocaust with pamphlets and protests at Der Waffle Haus. Our safety relies on their cowardice. The only productive way to address it is to try, as a society, to actively discourage religious lunacy.

I too grew up in a Christian home as the daughter of a pastor in the Foursquare church. I cannot tell you how jaded and bitter I became at the hypocrisy and lunacy that surrounded me on a daily basis. One of my biggest fucking pet peeves. In my heart the greatest commandment is LOVE. LOVE! Not HATE! How fucking hard is it to get that idea? Jesus was hanging out with the outcasts in his day…He was a radical! He was LOVE. He was an amazing person/God who, today, would probably puke up a couple of lungs in disgust at the way these so called Christians treat others. If they did that, more people would probably BE Christian, instead of running screaming into the night to get away from these assholes.

Margaret, you are a genius. I am going to share this with everyone I know (except the two born-again christians who won’t get it). I would dearly love if christians actually acted like… um… well, christians. (by the way, Joe, do you suppose that 8th day bit might have been a JOKE???) What about that old “free will” thing that we’re supposed to have. Christians are always talking about it. I figure abortion falls under that category. So does murder. It doesn’t mean people should do it or take it lightly, but it’s still gonna happen.
In fact, the so-called “pro-lifer christians” are the worst of all hypocrites. They are more than willing to ridicule and hate and often kill (even delight in killing) anyone and everything that isn’t an actual fetus—their perceived “enemies” (“those little brown people who can’t speak English” or anyone with skin that isn’t pristine white—and yet they spend thousands of dollars and lifetimes to perfect their tans); they’ll kill animals they deem to be overabundant in the wild (I’m pretty sure God had it all worked out pretty well before our wasteful asses got here); they’ll let endangered species die, because, in their twisted little brains, “climate change” is still just a myth; they’ll throw sacks of puppies and kittens in the river or on the freeway because they’re too lazy or stupid to get their animals spayed (and oh so much more).
But God forbid they should be willing to help any of those unwanted children they saved from abortion, due to their constant slashing of funding for the social programs they don’t believe in. Once the babies are born, they want nothing to do with them.
Sweet Jesus, save us from your followers. I’m beyond fed up with them. They cause SO much trouble because they are absolutely not interested in thinking for themselves. It’s way easier for them to let a little book–that was written forever ago by multiple all-male authors with no proof that any of it is true—dictate to them what they have to do—but then they don’t actually do any of it. They are masters of hatred and fear. I don’t recall Jesus being about either of those things. It boggles my mind.

OMG I just discovered this blog and had to book mark it.
First I must say, I saw you in Minneapolis a few months ago and came away in pain from laughing so hard, best show you’ve ever done.
OK that’s out of the way, I have to FUCK YEA. I’m not Christian, mainly for personal reasons that I don’t need to go into, that has a hard time with many “christians” that want to push their agenda on others.
WAKE UP PEOPLE religion is a personal belief…BELIEF! It’s a personal relationship between you and god and you are allowed to treat that relationship as you will. I have respect for Christians like you Margarete that declare you belief but also declare a sense of individualism when it comes to that religion. You are allowed to be any Christian that you want and your a far better person for allowing it to help you grow into the person that you are.
Everyone one of the commentators that gave you grief over you opinion of Palin and chided you about you as a christian are definitely not someone that understands what Jesus stood for but rather has been caught in the religious machine that’s shredded any forms of humanity and love that Jesus originally taught.
Jesus today would be considered a Hippy loving liberal that needs to go back to iraq. Jesus supporters would actually ridicule their own icon if he taught the same principles today that he taught two thousand years ago.
However you understand what jesus was all about and I applaud you for it.
Anybody else.. well you can agree or not but you can never take away the right for Margarete to believe as she does. If you have a problem her own personal beliefs that I suggest you take it up with God and let him handle it. If your too impatient to wait for God then I suggest you question why it is you believe in a God to begin with.

I thought Christians weren’t supposed to judge and I thought Jesus actually hung out with outcasts. It’s the people who said awful things to you who are giving Christianity a bad name. I am gay and whenever I hear someone say they’re a Christian, I automatically BRACE myself for the insults, judgments and negative thoughts I think they’ll send my way once they find out I’m gay. When I think of Christians, I do not think of loving people. I think of hateful people who condemn others for not believing the way they do. Thank you for speaking out in such an elegant way. Knowing how close-minded they are, however, I don’t have much hope that they’ll “see the light.”

I was raised Anglican, the daughter of a lapsed Catholic, with a healthy respect for the glory of God. My God is serious and majestic and raises an eyebrow when you swear for no good reason.

There’s nothing wrong with Christianity — just like there’s not much wrong with classical Republicanism. The problem is the people who call themselves Christians/Republicans.

That was the most HORRIBLE thing I have ever read. How can yu try to rationalize what you say by claiming that GOD thinks its funny. Thats not funny and just because your grandpa was a minister doesn’t mean you get a free ticket to heaven, you still have to act right. GOD loves you in spite of yourself but that doesn’t mean you can say whatever you want act however you want and live you life totally wrong. I was raised a Christian, but I don’t necessarily call myself one. All I know is, if there is a God out there, He doesn’t care if I’m Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, Gay, Straight, Bi or WHATEVER. He/She/It is all of it and none of it…
And ya know what fake Christians? MY relationship with God is MY own. Only God can judge me, and you, and your mom, so I don’t give a rats ass what YOU think I’m doing is wrong, because MY God loves me, forgives me, wants me to treat others how I want to be treated, and if I keep it real with him, he’ll keep it real with me.
It pisses me off that these so-called Christians are the ones to throw the first stone, when everyone is guilty of “sin”…They say the Bible says gayness is a sin, well the Bible also said slavery was good, so I don’t want to hear it…And let’s not forget Jesus’s biggest lesson…to love one another…how dare these so-called Christians deny the rights and privledges of others, condemn others, because they say God says it’s wrong…Again, only God can/should judge, so they should leave him to do his work.

I know I’m going to get lots of comments following mine telling me off, but you know what? I don’t care!!
God created the world, He created human beings with their own free will. God does not like to be mocked. He hates it when His name is taken in vain.. Swearing is very offensive to Him, and I don’t care what you have to say, or how many times you have to say f— to get your “point” across.
God loves everyone. He doesn’t like decisions that people make. He does NOT hate homosexuals. He doesn’t approve of their lifestyle, BUT HE LOVES THEM NONE THE LESS!!!! God hates abortion, and sex before marriage, but HE LOVES the people that have sex before marriage and have abortions!
Do me a favour.. Look up some passages in the Bible- if you don’t have a Bible, find an online version, there are tons of them. First-go to John 3:16. God loves you.

Well said, well played, and rage on, Margaret. There will doubtlessly be tons of psuedo-Christians trying to tell you that they love you when all they’re in love with is their own sense of self-fulfillment, that they deign to know God, what she likes, what she dislikes, and how you should treat yourself and the world around you to make God happy, but you’re doing more than God’s will by ignoring their narrow-minded attempts to channel religion into their own hideously backward world view.
Keep up the great work, don’t tone down the rage, it’s more than well justified, and stand proud knowing that evangelical nutjobs who really think that they “know” God and know how the rest of the world should live don’t have a lock on religion or spirituality by any means. They just have a lock on ignorance - history has proven it to us time and time again.

Wow. I’ve been doing some soul searching myself as I approach no longer being in my 30’s, and well, you may have hit the nail on the head. I never understood how people could believe that their God was infallible, believe that He created us all, and yet reject vast groups of people as heathens…even if that was the way God made them. I mean, I always thought that the God referred to in Christianity was smart enough to know that different people around the world He created would need to see him differently…but the message is always the same- Love and take care of each other. It’s exactly what Jesus taught. When he had his moment to preach, never once did he say why you should outcast certain people, did He? Nope. Instead, he spoke of loving thy neighbor as thy self and love the Lord your God- on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. I agree wholeheartedly that God is not judgmental..well said Ms. Cho.

Its sad reading this blog post and even sadder to see some of the responses. I am a Christian and am well aware of the stigma placed on those who still believe in the faith. I understand that a lot of people have been turned off by Christianity because they feel they are being judged by Christians. I don’t think its anyone’s place to judge another person, that’s God’s job. But then again, we all do it anyway, Christian or not.
I am extremely offended by this blog. To call God a fag but yet call yourself a Christian because your dad is a minister is a joke. It doesn’t matter what your dad is but if you have accepted Christ into your heart. Act however you want Margaret, Im not here to tell you how to be, but it saddens me that there are so many people that agree with you cursing at other people and accepting the names that you have titled my God and supposedly your God. He loves everyone no matter who they are but I assume He wouldn’t care too much for the hateful titles you gave him. Your rational is ridiculous. You said God created abortions…so it must be ok to kill babies. God created murderers and child molesters too. Does that mean it’s ok that people commit those kinds of actions? God is a God of love, but if you read the Old Testament, He is vengeful too and I believe that if society keeps up the way it is now, we’re gonna see that wrath on us again.

Great job misleading everyone, Margaret! Just because you think that God accepts sin and weakness, which you call equality and acceptance, that doesn’t mean that that is the true Christian God. Wait… so you are of the opinion that God is powerless to change our opinions, or just design us so that we would not think wicked thoughts? Surely we did, at one point, before the fall, correct?
So why even put that apple tree in the first place? I mean, we know he didn’t want us to have actual knowledge of good and evil, so you can’t really argue that he wanted us to have free will, can you?
Anyways, my point is that there are evil people, good people, and everything in between. Far too many Christians judge on basis not of ‘evil’ actions, but on basis of ‘the Bible says this is wrong!’ with no independent thinking. Jesus is much more a liberal than a conservative - tithe your money to the church, feed the poor, turn your swords into ploughshares, feed the hungry, heal the sick… need I go on? Yet many want to turn Jesus into this “warrior” who supposedly wanted people to earn money so that they could be happy, which is about as much a 180 as you could possibly get.

i dont believe that God is powerless to change our opinions, but that is only if we WANT him to and ASK that. There is a reason that we make a choice to follow God, so that in doing so, we are praising Him. If it wasn’t a choice and everyone just defaulted to it, where would be the praise be when we surrender and find out we can’t go on without Him?
you can pick apart little things but in the end, this blog doesn’t have the heart of God, period. I dont judge anyone, and i’m not even judging her, i just hope she one day can truly experience God!

There are things of this world that are of God and things that aren’t. If you have read the bible you would know that God allowed Satan to have his influence over this world until Christ’s second coming. It goes along with the “free will” idea that someone else mentioned in a previous post. You have a choice, you agree with God and the teachings of the bible… which state to love one another as God loves us or choose to act as Satan would. Cursing one another out and interpreting the bible the way “you” would like it to be written is exactly what Satan wants people to do. Im not perfect by any means, I flip people off when they cut me off in traffic just like most people do, but I do try my best to show Christ’s love in my work and personal life everyday. Its sad to see so many angry people out there dropping the F*bomb when referencing God. Completely unacceptable. God is our heavenly father and for those that are familiar with the 10 commandments we are to honor our mother and father.

That’s a false dichotomy. There is not just “Act as Jesus/God or act as Satan”. For instance, I can follow many other religions, and those do not necessarily align with Satan’s will/acts.
How do you know how to interpret the Bible hm? Did God himself tell you? How do you verify that?
As far as the ten commandments, I believe Jesus said it best.
Mt 19:16-19 “And behold, one came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” He said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
I align myself with those general morals, as do most moral societies, Christian or no.

Im not on here to try and convert any of you. Im only expressing my thoughts just like everyone else on this blog. Everyone has their own beliefs on faith, moral, religion and so forth.
LnGrrrR Im glad that you believe strongly in what you do and that you have read enough of the bible to even quote scripture. It shows that you have had at least some interest in what Christianity is. But I find it rather exhausting for you and I to go back and forth on who’s right or wrong. Truth is neither of us are because we are not the ultimate judge on anything. God is. I appreciate your arguments in this matter but at this point Im agreeing to disagree.
If anyone else has questions about the Christian faith feel free to ask questions. It doesn’t matter what your sexuality is, your color, or your creed.

What I dont understand is how you can think that Christians are so judgemental and horrible but you are doing exactly that.. judging Christians. If you ever want the vicious cycle to stop you should start with yourself… You cant control other peoples actions but you can control yours so if you want to not be judged I would suggest that you quit passing judgement on others especially such harsh crude judgement. Also with your semi-celebrity status the fact that you provoke other people to pass harsh judgement on Christians is insane. You want to not be judged and just live you life but loudly judge others that you dont agree with. Change begins with one person so why not use your voice for change not just more negativity…. If you want to be left alone leave others alone they are just doing what you yourself are doing, so how is it only wrong when they pass judgement on you.. not you on them???

I love the people who don’t get how radical Jesus was. … Seems like they missed a whole section in their bible. Or maybe some of the haven’t actually read their bibles but rather had their bibles fed to them. (Which I know is true - I’m from the good old fashioned south and I Know what some people teach in Sunday schools.)
Well, I know - I’ve read it - cover to cover, multiple times - And I say, Hell Yes girl. We need some shaking up here! We need anger - and revival!

Its not my place. I appreciate your thirst for knowledge in all religions; I also have interests in learning about other faiths to help me understand and come to a better conclusion as to why I believe what I do. I have a couple close friends that are atheists such as yourself. I respect them for their beliefs while they respect me for mine. I extend that same respect to you.

Much respect to you. I was not referring to you, but rather the two strains of Christian commenters on this site that either threaten the original poster, or tell her that she can’t be a “true” Christian. (As in, the No True Scot fallacy.)
So Disappointed,
Technically, the only swear that takes the Lord’s name in vain, is his name. I would think that would be obvious.
If God invented people, then he invented them with the capacity to create profanity. If I give a gun to a child, and that child uses it, who will be blamed for the accident? I will, of course. And heck, I’m not omnipotent/omniscient! God created humans KNOWING they’d invent profanity!
Given that, I’m guessing God doesn’t mind too much.
