I am not voting for McCain. I hope that is obvious. I am sick of everyone saying – “He was a good soldier. He was a good soldier.”

But I have to say–it’s not about the kind of soldier McCain was, it is about the kind of PRISONER he was. He was brave and strong in the face of serious torture, was offered release and denied it, and did whatever he could to keep up the morale of his fellow prisoners. I’m not afraid of McCain as president, because I think a lot of those virtues will translate well in the presidency.

I don’t normally reply to these sort of things but I have to say “um yeah, he was captured..he wasn’t that good” was a very poor choice of words. As a military wife and also the granddaughter of a man who was held captive for 3 years, I don’t believe being captured is a testament to how well they perform as a soldier. Yes I understand your post was not meant to be a jab at our soldiers but it was tacky none the less to suggest he couldn’t of been a good soldier if he was captured.

Very sad. Forget about who you support and what you believe, this is too much, and it’s wrong. First off, I don’t care who anyone votes for. In fact it’s no ones business but your own.
So basically what you are saying, is that any one of our soldiers (of any war) who has been ambushed, caught, captured, or KIA are not good soldiers? How is it that these men and women who volunteer (enlist or OCS) to fight for this country and had the unfortunate fate stated above not a good enough soldier? I would like to see you do what they do… or even be in a relationship with a soldier who is fighting while you sit at home, trying to pass the time and praying they come home safely.
Your comments are an insult to every soldier who has stood up to fight for you freedom to say whatever you want. But go ahead, my husband says it’s ok. You can thank him later.

Sorry Margaret Cho, you can say what you want because you have the right to free speech and your own opinion, but so do I! I think you are completely out of line with the comment about McCain being a bad soldier because he became a prisoner of war during his time of service. My husband is a soldier in the US Army and he’s putting his life on the line for digusting pieces of garbage like you? It feels like a whole being torn into my heart, what if my husband would have died when he was in Iraq? Or what if he would’ve been caputred because “he just wasn’t that good of a soldier?” Would it all have been in vain because pieces of shit like you don’t appreciate what these guys do no matter who they are or what they believe it???
It doesn’t matter what kind of soldier you are because wartime in a different country, in completelty different surroundings makes them vulnerable to being caught. Especially with today’s “technology” and how terrorists uses IED’s to blow up soldiers vehicles hoping they’re alive once they get to them so they can torture them before they kill them. What about those guys? Are they bad soldiers? What about their families left behind? Do they deserve to go through that pain because their loved one wasn’t “that good of a soldier?” Unless what you put in the media about yourself is false, I bet you would know a thing or two about being in pain and being vulnerable according to your past experiences. I was actually becoming a fan of your show, but needless to say I will never watch it again. I’m not even for John Mccain nor Barrack Obama for that matter, but I can’t believe you would say something so irresponsible as that. I’m sure somewhere amongst some of those soldiers is a fan of yours and you should apologize to those people who risk their lives for YOU. If you don’t like McCain/Palin because of their stand on the war, or the economy, or how they’re going to fix infrastructure, or what they plan to do with Wall Street, or how they’ll fix social security or healthcare, that’s fine. But, if you don’t like them because they don’t support gay marriage, I think that’s a selfish agenda that shouldn’t have anything to do with the federal government to begin with. It should be an issue that each state deals with individually.

There are some of us who are well aware of McCain’s war history and do appreciate the sacrifices he has made. However, his camp lays on his military record very thick and hence opens it up to opinions and criticism. Before his capture, he may not have been the best soldier. The sacrifice does deserve respect. However, you can respect someone’s service yet question their ability. We all know what he lost serving our country. What I want to know is what is he going to do about our economy, education, health care, etc. Or, more personal to you, what has he done or what will he do for all the Veterans coming back mentally and physically broken? Why has he not been their champion? Stop telling me about his war background. I lived in Arizona, and I can’t remember anything he ever did for that state. He is never around unless it is a photo op. What about Keating 5? How about his disrespect for all his wives? He has a temper and it has been showing. Will that temper in a national security arena expose the Americans’ to more war and terror on our soil? I’m afraid it will. Read the definition of democracy.

You should have proved why Palin IS such a horrible pick (just to shut the crazies up). McCain is an American hero but that is NOT a reason for him to become president. The guy does not have a clue about how to fix the economy; or at the very least, he does not know how to alleviate our horrible economy. As for the comment about college, just because you went to college does not mean that you are automatically considered smart; it just means you have a piece of paper that says you went to college. College is cake (as long as you are ABLE to go to college). Also, it’s not like she went to Harvard - she went to some mediocre college.

So, a woman writes a commentary about eating another woman’s pussy and doesn’t agree with a man’s military service record. That in American apparently makes her despicable and worthy of racist and demeaning remarks against women. If a man wrote what Margaret wrote, he may be accused of being sexist but his comments about another man’s service record would simply be viewed as an opinion. It’s interesting that your gender and ethic background still make you less human if you’re not white.
