Asheville & Carrboro Dates RESCHEDULED

August 10th, 2012

.

Since I was NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY I have to move some of my dates for my Mother tour, so I can take my real mother to the awards ceremony. This means I have to move Asheville and Carrboro to January. So sorry to everyone who planned to see me in September, but I will make it up to you in January. I haven’t played North Carolina that much, and I really appreciate the chance to come back and have fun with you all. Ooh maybe my friends from Superchunk will come to the show!! One can only hope!!!

HERE ARE THE NEW DATES:

January 23: Asheville – The Orange Peel

January 24: Carrboro – Cat’s Cradle

If you already have tickets they will be honored on the new dates. If you need a refund, please contact the box office where you originally purchased tickets.

Dates will be updated on The Orange Peel & Cat’s Cradle websites by this afternoon.

Emmy Nomination!

July 19th, 2012

Margaret Cho has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy for OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES for playing Kim Jong Il on 30 Rock.

From Margaret:

I’m so excited to have been nominated for an Emmy, especially for 30 Rock, which is an incredible show and also for playing a deranged and deceased world dictator who has divided the small country of my origin in two. That’s the best part. I think that’s what I’d call iron curtain irony.

UPDATE 7/20: Read Margaret’s blog ‘Emmy Nomination!!!’ HERE.

MOTHER Tour – Fall 2012!

May 30th, 2012

I’m excited to announce my new tour –  MOTHER!

My all new standup show, MOTHER, offers up an untraditional look at motherhood and how we look at maternal figures and strong women in queer culture. It’s probably my edgiest show to date, filled with riotous observations on race, drugs, sexuality – gay-straight-everything in between, celebrity, culture, politics – nothing is sacred – least of all this MOTHER.

I’m so excited that I made 2 tour posters! Thanks Austin Young and Michael Gaughan for doing such an amazing job.

I’m signing some special limited run posters (the M. Gaughan one below) for anyone who buys tickets before JULY 1ST. All you have to do is bring your email confirmation with the date of your ticket purchase to the merch table at the show and you’ll get a signed poster!

I’ll be going to lots of places, hopefully near you, so come on down!

Margaret Cho returns 30 Rock!

May 3rd, 2012

I’m so thrilled to return to 30 Rock and I’m super excited about these episodes. I think I really get to show my dictator side!

-Margaret

Margaret Cho is back! She will appear on 30 Rock’s May 10th and 17th episodes, bringing back her hilarious gender-bending interpretation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il. Cho-as-Il kidnapped Jack Donaghy’s (Alec Baldwin) new wife Avery (Elizabeth Banks), and seems to have made her his First Lady. How this will play out since the real-life dictator’s demise last December is anyone’s guess, but look for Cho to play TWO characters in the same episode.
