Subject: Vegas at The Palms

Margaret, You da bomb, girl!!!

I have never laughed so hard in my whole life . . . You were always BEAUTIFUL , now
you're drop dead gorgeous!!! The Palms was a blast! Thank you so much for all you do.

My wife, Cheryl, is terminally ill in her final stages of Chronic Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
My family and friends sent me down to Vegas for a break from the palliative care centre. I wish she could have seen your show. . . For a brief two hours that night at The Pearl, you took away my pain.

Sending big hugs from you No. 1 fan in Canada,
Dale

You are fucking hilarous, and inspiring at the same time....

I saw your "Beautiful" show in Miami last weekend....

My BF and I drove all the way from the mountains of East TN to Miami just to see you! haha we're hillbillies

I LOVE YOU! Thanks for making me wet my diaper!

Michael

Thank you for coming to Boston

Hi,

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for coming to Boston on your Beautiful tour. You were my 40th birthday present to myself! I haven't laughed that long or hard in a VERY long time. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly (especially your callout to gay marriage in Massachusetts -- we got married in December 2004!) and have been making each other giggle by quoting lines at each other for the past several days. We adore you, and I'm certain that we will be buying the DVD as soon as we can.

Wanted to let you know, though, that the Orpheum, especially up in the nosebleed seats, is mighty uncomfortable for fat and/or tall audience members. A lot of older theaters are -- apparently, our forebears were all uniformly five feet tall and approximately three inches wide. I'm used to wedging my hips into place, but this was the first time I haven't been able to fit the length of my thighs into the seats! My wife, who is 5' tall, was fine, but my extra 8 inches of height (and the peculiar conformation of my ass, apparently) made seating bizarrely difficult.

I don't know whether you have much control over your choice of venues, but I thought it might be something you'd like to know, given your sympathy with us Fat Folk. :)

Thank you again for a wonderful, Beautiful evening in Boston. I hope that the next time you come through, we can see you perform again, and I've already told my blog readers that they need to see you if you come near their towns!

XO
Jude

Hi Margaret - my husband and I, along with my mom and my neighbors Kim and Lisa - who are also married -, went to your show last night at The Orpheum Theatre in Boston. As always, your message of self respect and love, brilliant observations about the madness of this world, and the need for community was wonderful - I work with so many folks who struggle to accept the beauty that lives inside of them - I can't tell you how many times I have recommended "I'm the one that I want" to client's and have had them return the following week laughing and feeling powerful. You never cease to amaze!

Thank you -

Joseph

Hi,
I loved your show tonight in Boston! It was the best night I've had in a long time. I loved how you brought your morals and ethnics into a hilarious comedy show. That's TRUE comedy.
There were so many things you said, I wanted to show to my friends. To make them laugh, and to make them realize, they ARE BEAUTIFUL.
I was wondering if your new tour - this show "beautiful" will ever be on DVD?
Please let me know!

Stay amazing

Peace and Love,
Jessye

P.S. I hope you vote for Obama, but Hillary would be cool too! =P At least MA has gay marriage, eh?

Hi Margaret

I really enjoyed your show this past friday I has such a good time. I bought the limited edition dvd's that you signed which came with the dvd's, cd pins and the nice bag with the name of your tour. I've been to your last two shows in Vancouver and I have one question will you be back again in the near future. I think you are the best comedian in the world I love your show so much.

Take care
Wesley

Beautiful in Vancouver

Dear Margaret: Myself and a few friends caught your show "Beautiful" last night in Vancouver BC and I gotta tell you, girl you were in fine form. That is the funniest show YET!! We love you and don't stop what

I must say I absolutely loved your Show up in Sydney over Mardi Gra!!!

Highlight defiantly would have been 'Eat me Out'

Any Chance you will be recording and releasing as a single?!?!?!

All the best for the rest of your tour!!

Andrew

Margaret,

It was great running into you at the Mardi Gras Parade in Sydney!!!!!!
I just love the title "Chief of Parade." I was just amazed at the size and energy of the
crowd. they were lined up 12 deep even where we were lining up a block
or two behind you. The picture I took of you with Joe D'Allessandro
and Graeme Browning is on the San Francisco Sentinel at www.sanfranciscosentinel.com

Hey Margaret,

I just want to tell you I think you are amazing. I LOVE listening and watching your comedy routines. When I'm feeling unmotivated I listen to comedy and I like listening to you the most because you inspire me and make me laugh so hard that I forget whatever I was stressing about. Thank you for doing what you do, the WAY that you do it and putting it all out there.
Take care!

Susie

Thanks for a wonderful show! It was a perfect blend of your stand up and quality variety show entertainment. Fabulous job on mixing humor and true beauty! We LOVE you!

My friends and I saw The Sensuous Woman tonight.

It's so wonderful to have people such as yourself standing up and being so true to who you are time and time again. And ultimately making this world a better place by spreading a message of Love. Thank you

You will never cease to amaze and make me laugh!

Seth

Me and my friend almost pissed our pants, the show was fantastic!!! I have loved you over the years, and you blew my mind again your show was brilliant!!

Thank you for a rich and diverse performance, I caught the Sat 11pm show last weekend and I have to say of all your tours this one is my favorite. In the fashion of Jenny Craig, Larry Craig should in fact start a dick watchers program for all his Republican closet case asshole friends. Oh, what he would have "accidently" done with yours Ms. Cho! Thank you for bringing us fabulously subversive talent and entertainment!

I Love you,

David

Margaret,

MARGARET!

I was visiting New York and I saw your Sensuous Woman show at The Zipper (which just happened to be near where I was staying) and I'm so glad I went to see your show.

It was FUCKING AWESOME!

I hope you can bring your show (or something similar) to Australia. All my friends are so jealous I got to see the show!

Cho bitch!

Fucking saw your cho tonight at Zipper. My boyfriend and I were sitting on the floor, second row peeing our pants the entire show. Honey, I almost blew out my butt plug from laughing so hard! We wish you great success with your fantastic show. We loved it and are telling everyone we know to come see you and your amazing cast. I want to know how many times has your mother seen the show? ;) We epecially loved Kelly honey. SHOES! Best part, closing number with Klaus Nomi! Nice ass girl! Who's your trainer?.. and those tatoos.. now, that's a work of art.

Massive kisses from NYC!

Sal and Eric

Margaret,

I will forever remember tonight at the Zipper Factory - broken curtain and all! What a wonderful show. The zipper factory is literally behind the building where I work on 38th street and it makes me happy knowing I'm so close to brilliance and beauty! May you have a wonderful run and much continued success. Any plans to come out to the Pines?

Best to you and the rest of the wonderful cast.

Warm regards,
Derek

Hi Margaret,

I saw your show last night at Lakeshore Theater and it was so incredibly funny! And it was so empowering! My girlfriend and I loved the mix of diversity in performers. I'm so glad you've taken your show to Chicago. I've been wanting to see you for years! I've been following you ever since All-American Girl. I was so happy to see an Asian women with her own show. I had a chance to catch you do an impromptu at Sidetrack a few years ago! I'm so mad i didnt get my pic taken with you last night when you were meeting fans waiting in line before the show. Everyone was taken pics with you but i got so shy! Oh well. It's too bad your other shows in Chicago are sold out because i would see Sensuos Woman again in a heartbeat!

Much success with the rest of your tour! I look forward to seeing more of your hilarious, empowering productions!

All the Best,

Valerie Lopez

Ms. Cho [bowing down]:

Loved your show on Friday night (10 p.m.) and hated the review by Chris Jones in the Chicago Tribune.

Here is my response (below) to Mr. Jones (to be published online … Craigslist, Tribune Forums, Voice of the People, Metromix, etc.)

Not that you’d be bothered by this little man, but he’s been accused of this type of show assassination before.

You are the greatest, and I really appreciated the speech about the Jena Six. Love you!

Teri

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Mr. Jones' critique of Margaret Cho's comedy show was so off-the-mark that I couldn't help but wonder if Mr. Jones had an agenda going into the theater. After all, why else would a critic use the phrase "unfunny stereotypes" in a show where the entire audience could not stop laughing, whistling and clapping?

Why would a critic bash Liam Sullivan ("Shoes") for "rap[ping] on one word ... goes on forever..."? Uhm, Mr. Jones? First of all, it’s the comedian Liam Kyle Sullivan, not the actor Liam Sullivan, who did "Shoes" and “Shoes” is a YouTube video that has been popular for over a year and viewed 19 million times! Chris Jones is obviously completely out of touch with today's media culture.

Mr. Jones actually had the audacity to criticize an audience as being "mostly gay" and Cho for talking about sex when, after all, Cho is famous for being a bi-sexual comedian who talks about sex. In addition, the show was presented in a theater located in a well-known gay neighborhood. What exactly did Mr. Jones expect? Did he not know this information going into the theater?

I was there. I am not gay. And I think that Cho presented a fabulously entertaining show. I laughed non-stop with the rest of the audience, and gave Ms. Cho a standing ovation at the end with everyone else. I think Mr. Jones missed the point of the show entirely. Perhaps he should focus on reviewing only family-oriented productions, passion plays and church groups in order to avoid having his delicate sensibilities offended in the future. Or ... maybe he could "bone up" on current culture, media icons and gay entertainment.

Dear Margaret,

Your show was very shocking and entertaining, and it broke the boundary of "normal." So brave, lol, I enjoyed it and so did my friends. It made me re-think about a lot of stuff, like life and what is ugliness, especially your comment about that 5'10 blonde joke. I love your shows and the way you see things because I grew up similar to yours, although instead of weight it was about ugliness. I was always considered ugly by my parents and relatives (She's not pretty enough), fellow Korean guys ("You better get plastic surgery bitch, ugly sackhole"), and the Korean community for not following the golden standard for a female - long black hair, cute face, skinny, etc - I had short tomboy-ish hair and although skinny, wasn't very feminine.

When you say "Everyone is beautiful" it brings tears to my eyes, because I know the pain endured for me, in those words.

The shocking show you and your actors put was very entertaining, it continually showed that everyone IS beautiful, in their unique way.

Go Margaret!!

Always your fan,

Joanne Yoon

Art

Margaret! Saw the show last night in Chicago! ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!! I didn't know what to expect, but I was more than pleased! Loved the part vaudville/part political statement/part gay-iconic humor all centering around the female body! Very slick! Oh..and hearing something you said....are you a fellow 'polyamorist'?

Absolutely amazing show tonight, I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to experience it! Excellent work to you all and I hope this is available on DVD one day so that everyone can have a chance to see the performances and receive the message you put out there. Thank you so much!

We had a great time on Saturday! Congrats, you all did a fab job!! Now when I say Margaret has balls, it takes on a whoooole new meaning ;0). Good luck in Chicago & NY!!

Dear Margaret,

I'm new in the US of A and finally got the chance to watch you live at The Sensuous Woman on Thursday. Y'know, as opposed to huddling over my laptop and squinting over blurry Youtube clips and whatnot.

At the risk of sounding gay, I LOVED YOUR PERFORMANCE! I LOVED IT SO MUCH I COULD CONTINUE TYPING IN CAPS FOREVER AND EVER AMEN BUT I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO BLIND AND HAVE TO QUIT SHOW BUSINESS SO I'll stop.

Ahem.

On a side note, I follow your blog and the entries documenting your tattoos are some of my favourites, and it was a real treat seeing them in person during your dance segments.

I can't wait for my next Margaret Cho fix. Perhaps you should consider boxing yourself up as cereal so fans like myself can have you every day haha. Woot.

Much love,

Ruth.

I just saw your show! It was fantabulous! I just moved from Minnesota to Chicago to study film at Columbia College Chicago and my mom and my 2 sisters just came to visit me for the weekend. When I found out that you were gonna be here I asked my mom if we could go and she said yes so like a good mom she bought the tickets yay! Anyway, I'm gay and then never have talked to me about it or asked me questions and I feel like they think they know what it's like but they are just guessing and they really have no idea how being gay actually is to me. I hope that by seeing your show with me tonight they might have learned something about gay people and culture. Although the money out of the butt-crack freaked out one of my sisters, I thought your show was amazing. I was very entertained and it was worth every cent my mom paid lol. I hope my family was laughed into some knowledge. Thank you, you're the funnyest,

~Britt

P.S. Might I add that you looked absolutely gorgeous?! and I also drove with my girlfriend to Colorado to see you and Cyndi at Red Rocks! another exsquisit performance! You rule!

What a brilliant package of entertainment and heart and mind recognition with what is really so important. I loved the show!!! Great messages. and after being a fan for so long - It was great meeting you!!! We caught your second nite in chicago. Really had a great time- Thank you for all you do Margaret- you are appreciated and respected more than you know. Take care- come to chicago anytime!!! Kym and Melissa

Last Night was a blast. To see you and your team perform was wonderful.

I've been waiting for this event since I was released from the hospital with a deadly stint of pancreatitis. This was the best medicine for me or was it the morphine? Anyways, front row and center is where I was able to watch. Such a treat! Thanks so much!

Love,

Tommy

We went to go see Margaret Cho and her Sensual Woman show. An amazing bunch of acts including "Shews, OMG Shews!" Kelly, Ian Harvie, and varying Burlesque-type acts. A good representation of different body types, sexualities and genders were presented. Awesome!
I loved seeing Margaret Cho do more then just comedy. She danced, and did a bit of a strip tease herself. Being front row and center provided an awesome viewpoint!
(link)

The show was absolutely amazing. David and I sat front row center, so we could see every little detail. Margaret Cho started out by talking about Britney, and how although her performance sucked ass, Britney was still beautiful. I am glad that someone else finally agrees with me about that. Margaret did some pretty amazing standup, and some pretty amazing burlesque as well. That woman is so beautiful, I just can't get over it. All of the other performers were absolutely amazing as well. Gosh, I wish I had enough time to go into detail about every last piece... It was a beautiful night. I wish everyone in the world could see that show.. I think people need to realize that you can not be 5'11 and weigh a hundred pounds and still be beautiful. (link)

OMG...so I saw Margaret Cho's burlesque show tonight featuring Liam Sullivan as Kelly and it was sooooo freakin funny. It's one thing to see her on TV, but to see her/them in person was awesome. I won't ruin the surprise if you haven't seen it yet but the ending is really good hehehehehe. But definitely the best $45 I have ever spent. (link)

I saw Margaret Cho's The Sensuous Woman last night. (AND I met Kelly, you guys. OMG Shoes.)

It is the best show I have seen in years. YEARS. Maybe ever.

It was hot, and funny, and dirty, and spot-on, and inclusive, and sexy, and queer, and risque, and just everything a burlesque show should be but in spades. If there is a higher recommendation than "Highly Recommended" I give it that. I give a "Required" recommendation.

Friends in New York, you've got a hell of a production coming your way.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire night just enthralled.

I know it's entirely sold out, but try to get a ticket anyway. It is so worth it.

GOD I WISH I WAS IN THAT SHOW!

Shoes. (link)

Just got back from Margaret Cho's amazing new show, The Sensuous Woman. It was an absolutely brilliant performance, with everything from stand-up comedy, burlesque, belly dancing, rap, musical performances, etc. Anyone who knows me knows that I fucking idolize this woman, but I've never had the opportunity to see her before. When I heard she was coming to Chicago with this unique show my friend Joe and I immediately got tickets. We got to the theatre really early and ended up sitting front-row center!

The Notorious CHO came out and did some excellent stand-up, then told us to enjoy the show. There were amazing performances and excellent comedy routines. The whole point of the night was to make people realize we're all beautiful, no matter our size, gender, sexuality, etc. and it completely succeeded!

One of my favourite performances was by Miss Dirty Martini, who came out in a floor-length and form-fitting gown decked out in red, white and blue sequins, complete with stars and stripes. She held two buckets on chains in either hand to represent a scale. Dancing to "Proud to Be an American", she proceeded to drop both "buckets" to the ground, spilling a lot of coins, which she greedily went after. As she slowly stripped off more and more pieces of clothing she revealed dollar bills tucked into her bra, gloves, panties, etc. that she threw into the air and danced around in. Eventually she started to gather as much of it as she could and shove it into her mouth. Finally she was only left in a thong and pasties at the end of the song, and she turned around, bent over, and pulled a LONG "streamer" of dollar bills from her ass, then danced around while twirling it around her, and finally ending the song and dance number by flipping everyone off. It was an amazing protrayal of our society and the greed we all have!

There was also an awesome performance by Kelly! She sang "Shoes" and "Let Me Borrow That Top", and came back at the end of the show to perform a mock version of "Shoes" that Margaret Cho had spoofed Mexican-style. It was a sing-off between "Choos" and "Shoes" that totally rocked and had everyone back on stage and the audience rolling.

At one point they started playing a song by "Prince" and one of the guys came walking up the aisles decked out like Prince circa 1985. He started dancing seductively on the stage, then stripped off his outfit and wore nothing but a leopard leotard thing. More seductive and funny dancing, and then he started straddling the edge of the stage... and then jumped off the stage and INTO MY LAP. The whole audience was going nuts and I was red as hell and laughing so hard. He started jumping over the rows and dancing on random people before finishing his number on stage.

So many more amazing performances that I can't even remember all of. I wish I could have had the whole night on video! (link)

I just returned from seeing The Sensuous Woman, a show organized by the always wonderful and hilarious Margaret Cho. The line-up was impressive, and I was happy to see some old favorites and also make some new ones. And I had my first live experience with burlesque performance. It was a night of laughs and nipple tassles, and by the end I actually had a cramp in my side from laughing so hard and was also fighting back tears (it was so overwhelming). (link)
