Compound? I worked at a high school for a little while and my former co-worker, the ex-military facilities manager, would almost always refer to the campus as a compound…it got under my skin I must say.

The members of the polygamists group in Texas ARE making their own choice as the sound bite says. Their choice is just that, theirs. I do not have the right to make a choice for them, any of them, not even those children. People do all kinds of fucked up things to themselves (first) and then to others, including children…everybody has a story about what some adult or other kid did ‘to’ them -not until recently did I understand that it was all ‘for’ me because I would not have the sensitivities to certain awful things if I had not been exposed to weaknesses that we humans often exhibit in the first place; it’s a fact of life that the contrast (in this case, the crappy stuff) is what causes us to grow, to seek more.

We all have healing that we are responsible for. I don’t know anybody who is not part of the club, you know the one, the-grown-ups (parents/guardians)-did-hurtful-things-now-i’m-fucked-up-and-have-to-fix-it-oh-this-shit-happens-to-everyone-time-to-put-my-life-together-the-way-I-want-it-to-be club…yeah, fun times.
