After watching that video, I don't understand how anyone with a heart could vote yes for proposition 8.

I am not gay but I was abused as a child and treated as if I were. I was an artist not an athlete so I became a victim in many ways. A gay friend of mine gave me so good counsel and helped me deal with my past. He passed away several years ago. I miss him.

There is nothing any more perverted about a homosexual relationship than a heterosexual one. We are all human and we all have similar wants, needs, and goals. One of my favorite actors got joined in a civil union in the UK. The pictures from that union are online and it was beautiful.

I am married and have been for 15 years. I can't imagine being told that I can't marry the one that I love because some religion supposedly prohibits it.

It is my prayer that this proposition 8 gets overturned. God bless you all!

Dear Margaret:

Though I am sorely tempted to boycott all Mormon-owned and Prop 8-contributing businesses and organizations, I can be effective at something: I can do my genealogy as a gay married man. Unfortunately this means that I will have to change my partner's gender from male to female in the process, but it will mean that they will seal our marriage for time and eternity. How much more could I ask for?

The software, Personal Ancestral File, is available at FamilySearch.org (a site of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) and talking about your grandparents and your great-grandparents with your family can be a lot of fun. It's even better if you record the information and submit it, even if you have to snip a little detail or three to make it conform to their strict standards of "insert-Part-A-into-Part-B" theology.

Learning about personal history is also good to find out if there are any nasties hanging out in the wings (genetically) waiting to pounce. You'll be able to look out for those and perhaps protect yourselves against them.

I cannot believe the LDS church has rooms full of to-the-mid-upper-arm-clad library lady volunteers checking birth records to make sure that Millicent was born without a weenie. Solidarity with our transgendered siblings!

Best wishes,

John

I have started a new website www.boycottmormonbusiness.com and would like all to help in sharing Mormon run business and organizations so we can get out the word that hate will not be financially supported. Once i receive some information I will post these and get going a new movement that will hopefully get some exposure. Email me at notohate@boycottmormonbusiness.com

God has better plans for your life. He created you for better things. Nothing is too far from God's reach. If I am not out of God's reach, then nor are you. He has a plan and a purpose if you would just turn to Him. We all have things we have to turn from. We all have the same opportunity to turn from our sin and make Him the Lord of our life. His love is so deep that He sent His one and only Son that who so ever beleives in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. He did not come into this world to condemn it but to save it." There is more at stake here than our laws, but the souls of our brothers, and our sisters. The Word talks about the Highway to hell is wide and many walk it, but the gateway to heave is narrow and few find it. May God touch your heart. May He reveal Himself to you and may you come to know the True and Living God. All you need to do is turn to Him, call on His name. When you give your life to God, God will give true life to you.

I love you and may God Bless you with knowing Him,
Your sister Vanessa

I don't even have words to respond to the comment left above. I'll just say that it is an example of how heterosexual privilege isn't acknowledged in our society.

I've printed some shirts to help keep the fight for marriage equality visible in California. It is a cause near and dear to my heart, and though the Bay Area has made a lot of progress, it is obvious that most of California has not.

You can find the shirts here:

Let's keep spreading the word and lets keep our voice out there!

To all you prop 8 proponents,

You are a minority and the people have spoken so get used to it because it is not going to change...no amount of marchs or demonstrations will change what the people in several states determined by voting. You make me sick because when you don't get your way you expect EVERYONE to bow to your tantrums.

You push your gay agenda on us and when we voice our opinion you cry "Foul" Well I am soooo happy you all will have your marriages annulled because that is the way it is...You don't like then MOVE and until you are the majority it will not change. In 2 weeks this will be a non issue alike it is to the other 99% of Americans.

Have a nice day,

It is time for us, the straight allies, to stand up and stand with our gay and lesbian friends who are being systematically denied the most basic rights and recognition – the very things we, in the heterosexual world, take for granted day after day.
